Student Media in Victoria
Student Media is currently under threat of becoming non excitant and we don’t get any funding from the government or other organisations as we don’t meet their criteria. Majority of student media organisations in Victoria are online based and only funding is given to organisations that have a FM/AM or TV licence. If we don’t receive any support then Student Media will disappear before the middle of the year.
WHAT Is Happening?
Fresh Student Media has quickly grown into Melbourne's Freshest Community Media Organisation. Now, we offer a range of services including radio, TV & Videos, online and so much more. The coronavirus has hit Fresh and other Student Media organisations hard and we get no funding from our partner universities. Student Media doesn't get any funding from the government or other grant providers.
We are asking for the Board of the Community Broadcasting Foundation to change these conditions in their funding to include online content producers like Fresh.
Also, we need Prime Minster Scott Morrison, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews and State Minister for Creative Industries Martin Fowley, State Minister for Economic Development Tim Pallas, State Minister for Jobs, Innovation and Trade Martin Pakula, Federal Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business Michaelia Cash and Minister for Communications, Cyber Safety and the Arts Paul Fletcher to support Student Media NOW and into the future.
"An incredible organisation to be part of! FRESH faces, FRESH music, FRESH vibes!"
