About Us

We started out life as a university club back in 2016 in Footscray, Victoria. Back then we were known as Victoria University Student Media (VUSM) with only 20 members from all walks of life (plus the university we were at was celebrating it's 100 years). After 6 months of umming and ahhhing, we stelled on the name Fresh Student Media as we worked a little differently that the other clubs as we through of "fresh ideas" & to play Fresh Hits so that's how we though of the name. We started broadcasting full time the following year in our new MetroWest studios in Central Footscray within a small office. As we got bigger and bigger with the community being interested, we branched off from the univeristy and became an independent not for profit media organisation. In early 2020, we made a big move to go over to Williamstown, Victoria to our new studios at Student Media House with a influs of members, content creators and audiences with pandemic lockdowns. in 2021, Fresh Student Media and newly created Geelong Student Media mergered to for Geelong and Melbourne Student Media (GMSM)  to bring this to a state level.. In late 2022, GMSM was abolished due to Post COVID costs of running a buainess. In early 2023, Fresh Student Media Founder, Cameron Cook bought back the naming and makreting rights of the business to from a new digital media business with Fresh going back to it's orgins of being Melbourne's Freshest Radio Station.
